Kenai sits on the bluff over Cook Inlet at the mouth of the river, about eleven miles west of Soldotna on the Kenai Spur Highway. Old Town carries some of the oldest standing buildings on the peninsula, and the neighbourhoods off Beaver Loop and Bridge Access Road hold everything from cannery era houses to newer construction.
Inlet weather is the thing that decides an exterior in Kenai. Wind off the water and salt in the air are hard on siding, trim and any fastener that was chosen for a catalogue photo rather than for the coast, so the material list matters more here than the finish schedule does.
